Incident Investigation

When failures occur, technical clarity is essential. I bring practical expertise to incident investigations by tracing failures in propulsion, auxiliary systems, cargo handling, and factory operations. Services include:
- Root cause analysis of machinery breakdowns, fires, flooding, and structural failures. This covers a host of operations, identifying:
- Poor management interventions.
- Improper maintenance
- Diagnostic investigation using thermal imaging, vibration analysis, oil analysis, and non-destructive testing methods to determine machinery condition and failure progression in operational context.
- Human and organizational factor assessment to understand decision-making, compliance gaps, and training needs.
- Formal incident investigation reports for counsel and insurers with references to IMO, USCG, and class society requirements (ABS, DNV, RINA, Lloyds).
Expert Witness
As an expert witness, I will provide independent technical analysis and testimony to clarify complex marine engineering issues for courts, arbitrators, and insurers. My role is to present clear, defensible opinions rooted in evidence and based on my experience, qualifications, and the highest standards of industry practice.
- Expert witness report formation compliant with US Federal Rules of Evidence 702 is the first step following retention. This report serves the foundation of my testimony and provides an impartial, evidence-based evaluation of the technical aspects relevant to your case.
- Deposition meetings offer counsel the opportunity to examine and clarify the expert’s opinions under oath. This process ensures that all findings, methodologies, and conclusions are transparent, reproducible, and legally defensible.
- Witness testimony may take place in court or before an arbitral tribunal, where I present my findings clearly and objectively to assist the trier of fact in understanding the technical matters at issue.
